There are basic concepts to keep in mind when building any website, but a really good art website needs special consideration. I've spent years building and maintaining my own artist website, so in the hopes of helping other artists (and anyone else looking to build a gallery - based website) I've compiled some information that should be helpful.

Putting together an art website requires a few things:

• create your artworks - think about affordability!
• a good web design program
• a good image editor / optimizer
• a camera, and necessary accessories
• somewhere to take good images of your artworks (a lightbox is ideal)
• a good hosting company
• market yourself and your artworks!
